Where is the Maruti Pipes factory?
The factory is at Nepalgunj-13 in Banke district, Lumbini Province. Nepalgunj is the commercial centre of mid-western Nepal, on the border with India, and a gateway to Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces. Being here puts the factory close to the water supply and irrigation schemes of western Nepal, and on the routes that pipe has to travel to reach them.
How big is the factory?
The site covers 27,090 square metres — 2.7 hectares, or exactly 4 bigha in the land measure used across the Terai. That area holds the production halls with the extrusion lines, the in-house laboratory, raw material storage and a large open yard where finished pipe is stocked before despatch. The space is what lets us keep stock on hand for large orders instead of producing everything to order.
What does 7,000 tonnes a year mean?
Pipe is sold by the metre but produced by weight. 7,000 tonnes a year is about 19 tonnes for every day of the year. Turned into pipe, that is roughly:
